In April 2024, we undertook roofing repairs to a garage workshop roof in Shoreham, West Sussex.
The steel roof had completely rusted away at the end of the sheets in one area of the roof and as the water was no longer getting into the gutter the soffit flashings had also been damaged and were either rusting or missing.
The upshot was pigeons were then using these gaps to enter the workshop.
The client asked us for a low cost solution to cover/do away with the holes and so we chose the option of fitting new steel flashings.
The bottom and most rusted section of the roof sheets were cut away. New flat plate galvanised steel flashings were then fitted to cover the gap.
Underneath new grey coloured plastisol coated steel flashings were fitted to repair the gaps in the soffit to prevent the risk of sections falling and to keep the pigeons from getting in.
The flashings were secured using new fixings and sealed for weather-tightness.
