Project Summary

After an initial enquiry from an existing client regarding refurbishing the Warehouse roof, SCS Roofing Services visited site to survey the problems and discuss the options available.

The works consisted of the following:

The top sheets of the 48 no. old double skin translucent rooflight were systematically removed and new matching profile rooflights were fitted. These rooflights had a sheet weight of 3.6kg/m2 which means they can be classed as non-fragile for 25 years from fitting. As they were rusty all of the old main and stitcher fixings to the complete roof area were replaced using new precision-formed fixings with integral caps. As the roof was starting to delaminate badly on the sheet end laps we treated them by lifting the laps and painting them with a high performance exterior paint.

A strip of heavy duty butyl mastic sealant was then fitted under the 500 linear metres of laps to ensure they were effectively sealed. The guttering was showing signs of corrosion and so was fitted with new flexible and joint less liners to a total length of 280 linear metres. 220 linear metres of new ridge flashings were fitted with new corrugated filler pieces to ensure the ridge was sealed. New ski-slope flashings were fitted to all the pipes that protruded through the roof surface and new rubberised pipe flashings were fitted to each pipe. As with all our projects, planning and communication with our clients was key to a smooth running contract.
