During December 2018 and January 2019 we carried out an over-roofing to a workshop roof in Hersham, Surrey.
The old roof and the valley gutter were leaking badly. To solve the problems we fitted an over-roofing system, lined the valley gutter and replaced the eaves gutters as described below.
Spacer purlins were fitted over the old roof to provide a space for the insulation and to support the new roof sheets.
New 200mm thickness fibreglass insulation was laid over the original roof to help regulate the temperature within the building.
New single skin plastisol coated steel sheeting was fixed using new precision-formed fixings.
The roof was finished off with new purpose manufactured contrasting coloured flashings.
The gutters were a major problem as the valley gutter was too small. We fitted a new liner tray which went up to the first purlin. The liner was then fitted to this height. This increased the capacity as well as ensuring it is water-tight.
We removed the old cement based eaves guttering and fitted new half round PVC gutters to the outside. In addition new down-pipes were fitted which discharged the water into the existing drains.
